I quit my job
So I cannot name where I worked but I can tell you why it went down the rabbit hole.
We'll call it 'houseware'. And there is a past job that I was working during trying to get this job and we will call it Worldmart.
At 'houseware' it was a great start like any job. You know how everyone advises to put your best foot forward in interviews and that's what I did. I took my break from Worldmart to get to this interview. Now I was told that no minor would work past 10 o'clock but in the weekends they would probably work us later. And I accepted that it made since and my new manager had a good talk about how she wanted me to go to school and stuff like that.
1. That's a talk that my mother has with me not my boss.
In that moment I took it as she cared more about school than how many hours I worked. I liked the lie and so she feed it to me. The next weeks I worked 'til 10:30 which I did not mind because it was summer. Thinking that when school came it would go to 10:00p.m. WRONG!
But I was keeping up with the work until the middle of school and I tried to get my hours cut because between this blog, school, dance I could not keep up and I wasn't posting because of that. So my blog stopped for a bit and my job kept going. This wasn't okay with me but I didn't care because I was going to change my hours. That's how I got my hours lowered to about 20 hours a week. I was working 27-30 and that...no.
2.I did't quit when management wasn't understanding about balancing high school and my job with dance.
So dance doesn't happen 24/7 they schedule dancers off during all holidays that are not just christian ones. Halloween was off. And one of the people there needed to go to the doctor for their hip and they had been waiting for a long time. Being human they forgot to ask for the day off and the manager told her that she would have to reschedule that. I took her shift. Now I thought I would be working FIVE hours but it was going to be an EIGHT hour shift on a school night. My mother was not going to let that happen. My family fed them a lie that one of my parents were in the hospital but the same incident happened last year. That's besides the point I am just glad it wasn't real this time.
3. My manager told me that the next time that happened she would need me to stay. I should've walked out right there.
I kept moving through my job instead. Because that time the incident was not real. But what if...
One of the managers that was closing had to go because someone was in the hospital and the overall manager came in for a few minuets. What happened is not my info to share but let's just say any parent would have stayed at the hospital.
I get that you have a job and all but no one should be so loyal to there job that they should feel that it is first.
4a. A little rant. Two of these managers(my overall one and the one who told my text time I needed ti stay) would always talk to each other and cluster. One of them would never touch frate(stocking) just complain that we needed to be faster. Now the associates aren't allowed to talk and be in clusters to have a 45 min. conversation. Also we cannot get on our phones but they can laugh about what was posted on facebook. 😑
4. I quit. Black Friday.
My over all manager called me and asked if there was anything they did to deserve this. I said no holding my tongue back. Then again acting like my mother she goes I am disappointed this is not how you quit a job. [I didn't give a notice] I told her No, that is what I decided to do.
There you go a full rant on why I quit 'housewares'.
